Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs around the globe. It's one of the neatest and most creative projects I've seen out there. Hop on the site to browse entrepreneurs, chose someone to lend to, and then make the loan. Not only are you helping someone take one huge stride towards economic independence, but you are also supporting creativity around the world that would otherwise bound only by poverty. It's important to note that this is a LOAN- after 6-12 months you are repaid your loan, and able to pick someone new to loan to!

ReplyDeleteJust remember to also support charitable organizations. Empowering entrepreneurs is great, but often a organization providing large scale services to a population can do more positive impact then an individual project.
